At Greater Springfield Veterinary, we believe that one of the most important aspects of caring for your pet’s health is ensuring he or she is protected against preventable diseases.

There are a variety of preventable diseases that commonly affect dogs and cats, with many being viral and which do not respond well to medications – sometimes making veterinary treatments difficult. Where treatments are possible, they can be expensive and in some circumstances even prove unsuccessful.

Generally, puppies and kittens require an initial series of three vaccines (given one month apart) followed by an annual booster to ensure ongoing protection from disease as an adult. We will always send our clients a reminder via SMS for thier pets’ upcoming vaccinations, ensuring they stay healthy and up-to-date.

When you book an appointment for your pet’s vaccination, you can be assured that our veterinarians will review your pets medical file, and decide (collaboratively with you) exactly which vaccine program is appropriate depending on the age, lifestyle, and health of your pet. Some vaccines are more important than others, and their administration based on unique risks of living either in our region or elsewhere. We are always happy to discuss this with you and answer any questions you may have relating to vaccines or other topics.

When your pet is booked for a vaccination with us, he or she will receive a comprehensive physical examination from top to tail. We will also ensure you are given a copy of their annual report card so you can remember any important points!

We care about your pet and it is our goal to provide a gold standard level of practice. Vaccination is simply an integral part of your pet’s overall health and well-being.
