Veterinary Operations Manager
Senior Clinical Leadership | Business + People Development

Join an award-winning, family-owned group of three independent small animal hospitals in the Greater Springfield area – just 30 minutes from Brisbane.

At Greater Springfield Veterinary, our motto, ‘Excellence with Heart’ guides everything we do:

  • Thoughtful, evidence-based medicine, supported by excellent facilities and ongoing education.
  • Strong, trusting relationships with the people and pets we care for, and with each other.
  • Outcomes that balance heart, practicality, and long-term sustainability.
  • A workplace that supports people to perform at their best.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced veterinarian to step into the role of Veterinarian Operations Manager, a senior leadership position that equally values clinical expertise and business acumen.

Working closely with the Veterinary Director and Practice Manager, you will help bridge day-to-day clinical operations with higher-level planning, financial awareness, and strategic decision-making.
This role shapes how good medicine is practiced, how teams are supported, and how the hospital performs as a business.

This role is ideal for a veterinarian who:

  • Thinks critically about workflow, systems, sustainability and service delivery.
  • Understands the connection between excellent patient care and business performance.
  • Leads with calm, clarity, and confidence.
  • Enjoys mentoring people while contributing to the bigger picture of hospital growth and stability.

Your Day-To-Day

  • Support the Veterinary Director in clinical leadership, governance and complex decision-making.
  • Provide senior clinical input on complex or escalated medical and surgical cases.
  • Drive consistent, evidence-based clinical standards and quality improvement across the hospital.
  • Mentor and support veterinarians, including new graduates and students, to build confidence and capability.
  • Contribute clinical insight to hospital planning, including sustainability, capacity and growth.
  • Help identify and address workflow pressure points, inefficiencies and bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership, customer care and management teams to support smooth daily operations.
  • Participate in discussions around pricing, diagnostics utilisation, case acceptance and resource allocation.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • ‘Employer of Choice’ accredited practice – recognising excellence in leadership.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Paid professional development leave and allowance.
  • Paid CoVet (AI consult note-taking) subscription to reduce admin.
  • Your own laptop and excellent clinical facilities.
  • A dedicated Vet Coordinator to assist with estimates, procedure bookings, and specialist liaison.
  • Employee Assistance Program for you and your immediate family.
And:
  • Purpose Beyond the Consult Room. GS Vets promotes a culture of generosity, curiosity, and long-term thinking. We’re proudly home to Queensland’s first accredited carbon-neutral veterinary practice and donate 1% of turnover to environmental initiatives.

About You

You’re an experienced small animal veterinarian who cares about doing things properly, and brings:

  • BVSc, DVM or equivalent, with eligibility for QLD registration.
  • 7+ years’ experience in small animal practice.
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Confidence managing GP caseload.
  • Experience mentoring veterinarians or supporting clinical teams.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A genuine interest in improving systems, standards, and sustainability.
  • Personal alignment with ‘Excellence with Heart’.
