Nursing manager

BAppSc VT

Khalan graduated from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology in 2015 and joined our team right out of uni. In 2017, he took a nursing job at a specialist hospital and worked with some of the best in the biz before returning to us as a senior member of our team in 2023.

He is currently studying a Bachelor of Architecture and when not studying, he loves spending time with his family and his two dogs ‘Apollo’ and ‘Winston’, and his cat ‘Aubrey’. 

LEAD NURSE (SPRINGFIELD)

Meegan joined Greater Springfield Veterinary in 2016 where she would eventually become our Lead Nurse after working in wildlife and shelter medicine.

Her primary interests lie in emergency care and client education, with a focus on preventive measures like nutrition, deworming, and grooming. Additionally, she contributes to the clinic’s marketing efforts.

Outside of work, Meegan indulges in reading, attending live music events, exploring new destinations, and discovering the best brunch spots in Brisbane.

At home, she cherishes the company of her two dogs, ‘Jackson’ and ‘Marshall’, as well as her cat named ‘CC’. 

LEAD NURSE

(Redbank Plains)

Emma graduated with a Certificate IV in Nursing in 2004 and joined GSV in 2010, working on and off while building her family, and has been a friend of our owner, Jeannet, for a long time.

Starting as a Nurse, Emma rose to Lead Nurse at Eden’s crossing and has a keen interest  in orthopaedic surgery and anaesthesia, working closely alongside specialist surgeons at our hospital.

Outside of her professional life, Emma enjoys horse riding, tending to her plants, and spending quality time with her family. Her home is lively with three Jack Russells, a python, and a nob-tail gecko.

Tamsyn has been an invaluable member of the GSVets family since 2022, bringing her expertise and dedication to our team. Her recent success in internal applications has led to her exciting new role as Lead Nurse at Augustine Heights. We’re thrilled to celebrate Tamsyn’s growth and look forward to supporting her in this leadership position.

As a seasoned nurse, Tamsyn has a deep understanding of animal care and a passion for providing the best possible experience for both pets and their owners. Her commitment to excellence and her ability to inspire and guide her team are truly remarkable.

STUDENT PLACEMENT FACILITATOR

RVN, Cert IV VN

Nurse Sandra joined GS Vets in 2009 as a receptionist and moved to the nursing team in 2011. She served as head nurse for seven years before stepping down to care for her parents and achieve a better work-life balance. Sandra set up our vet nursing training program and supported many new nurses.

She is passionate about emergency medicine, chronic diseases, and educating the community on best practices for small animal care and disease prevention.

Outside of work, Sandra enjoys gardening, sustainability, and acrylic art. She loves camping with her family and spending time with her three dogs, Bella, Poppy, and Chilli, as well as caring for horses and chickens.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT Manager

Danica’s journey with GSVets began in 2015 as a trainee. She swiftly transitioned into a full-time nursing role in 2016 and became 2IC to the Nurse Manager in 2017. From 2018 to 2024, she served as the Patient Care & Nurse Manager.

Danica is currently transitioning into a new role called “Nurse Training & Development Manager,” focusing on continuous professional development for nurses.

Danica runs monthly leadership sessions with staff called “Emerging Leaders”. She is passionate about developing others in both clinical and non-clinical skills, including mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, leadership, anaesthesia and analgesia, surgical nursing, and low-stress animal handling.

Outside of work, Danica enjoys spending time at home with her family and pets. She has two dogs, Milo and Zeus, and a cat named Eevee, as well as keeping fish as pets.

Senior Nurse

Nurse Ashleigh worked in veterinary clinics in the Ipswich area, before joining the GSV team in 2022.

Her special interests include hand raising neonates, especially kittens, which has included 13 of our adoption kittens.

When she’s not raising kittens, you’ll find her at the gym, chasing her two kids around or spending time with her cats ‘Alfie’ & ‘Loki’.

Nurse Megan, who is originally from New Zealand, jumped across the ditch and joined our team in 2021.

She has a Diploma of Veterinary Nursing and has previously worked in emergency and cat-only hospitals. She currently runs our Kitten Adoption Program.

She loves reading and spending time with her two Guinea Pigs ‘Fenway’ and ‘Feta’, as well as her cats “Decibel” and “Tobias”.

Tigerlilly joined Greater Springfield Veterinary in 2021. With a keen interest in anesthesia and emergency care, she quickly became an invaluable asset to our team.

Outside of work, Tigerlilly finds joy in staying active through soccer and hiking, as well as exploring new destinations.

Tigerlilly shares her home with her beloved dog ‘Aurora’ and two cherished cats named ‘Thumper’ and ‘Indiana.’

Jesse joined the GSVets family in 2022 and has quickly become a valued member of our team. With a Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing, Jesse brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role.

As a Senior Nurse, Jesse plays a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our patients. Her dedication to her work and her ability to build strong relationships with both pets and their owners are truly admirable.

Robyn started her journey with GS vets as a baby nurse trainee, doing placement with the team in 2019 and hired as a trainee vet nurse in 2020.

Robyn graduated in 2021 with a cert IV in vet nursing with areas of interest in anaesthesia and cat behaviour (all things cats really!).

Outside of work Robyn enjoys silversmithing (making jewellery out of silver), hanging out with her three cats “Viking”, “Pixie” and “Sonic” (a foster fails through GSV’s kitten adoption program).  She also love going on hikes in the rainforest.

Rhiannon began her journey at GSV as a trainee in 2019 and has since specialised in intensive care nursing for critical patients. In addition, she contributes her skills to Groodles Australia as a nurse liaison for the charity, through GS Vets.

Outside of work Rhiannon is a fitness enthusiast who spends much of her free time at the gym. She also enjoys exploring local cafes and is a passionate fan of live EDM music.

At home, Rhiannon cherishes the companionship of her dog, Daisy, and her cat, Jetta. 

Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Dominnic joined Greater Springfield Veterinary in 2024 after completing a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology at UQ in 2021 and gaining valuable experience during a three-year nursing tenure at the Animal Emergency Service (AES). While Dom occasionally returns to AES for the thrill of emergency care, the move to general practice marks an exciting new chapter in their career.

Dom thrives in collaborative environments surrounded by passionate and knowledgeable professionals. With a special interest in creating peaceful, supportive spaces for families during euthanasia, Dom is dedicated to making every aspect of veterinary care meaningful and compassionate.

Outside of work, Dom enjoys bouldering, paddleboarding, and cycling through scenic landscapes. Whether swimming at the beach or catching up over coffee, they find joy in spending time with loved ones.

For those navigating the challenges of veterinary work, Dom advises setting aside specific times to talk through complex cases or concerns with a trusted mentor. This approach fosters balance and allows space to enjoy life beyond the clinic.

Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Katelyn joined GSV in 2024 and has been a Veterinary Technician since 2021, bringing with her a wealth of expertise which she also provides to Animal Emergency Service (AES).

She holds a certificate in emergency nursing and CPR recovery.

Georgina (Georgy) is a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a wealth of experience in various veterinary settings. She began her career at GSV, completing her Veterinary Nursing placement within the practice.

Georgy transitioned to a specialist role at the Queensland Veterinary Specialists (QVS), focusing on internal medicine. After two years at QVS, Georgy sought a change of pace and joined the Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) as a rotating nurse during the day and a member of the Emergency and Critical Care team in the evenings.

Now, following the birth of her son, Georgy is seeking a new role that offers a better work-life balance. She is particularly interested in pursuing her passion for animal nutrition and surgical rehabilitation, with a specific focus on orthopaedic cases.

Outside of work, Georgy enjoys baking, playing tabletop games, and reading. She is also a devoted dog mom to Hiccup, a Staffy x Boxer, and Tucker, a Great Dane x, both three years old.

Nurse Jen began her nursing journey with us as a trainee, but she was so good that we snapped her up into a junior nursing position in 2020.

She is our very own cheerleader, constantly pumping up our team and bringing positivity to every day!

When she’s not working, she loves having brunch with her besties and hanging out with her niece.

Nurse Louise joined our nursing team in 2021 and immediately fit in like she has been with us forever.

As her favourite thing is learning new tips and tricks, we often find her with the vets and senior nurses asking lots of questions to expand her knowledge.

When she’s not working, you’ll find her at the gym or exploring Brisbane for the best iced coffee.

Abby is a current Veterinary student who joined the GSV team in January 2025. Prior to joining the practice, Abby gained valuable experience by working casually in both mixed animal and small animal clinics.

Abby’s interest in veterinary medicine encompasses all aspects of the profession, with a particular focus on internal medicine. She is eager to learn from experienced veterinarians and contribute to the high-quality care provided at GSV.

Outside of her studies and work, Abby enjoys spending time on the farm with family and friends.

Laura holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and is registered with the VNCA. She joined Greater Springfield Veterinary in late May 2024, having previously been a placement student here in 2020/2021. She began her journey with GSV as a Veterinary Nurse.

With several years of experience in ECC, Laura enjoys the challenges of emergency work. She is now looking to pursue a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, specialising in surgical nursing, to further her expertise.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys reading, playing video games, watching AFL, camping, and bush walking with her dogs. She shares her home with two dogs, Lucy and Flo (Bull Arab X and Bull Arab X Great Dane), and Coco, a black domestic shorthair cat.

Laura believes in the importance of work-life balance and advises never to underestimate the power of sleep.
