Senior Veterinary Nurse – Full Time or Permanent Part-Time

We’re looking for a qualified veterinary nurse (Cert IV or equivalent) who enjoys a fast-paced environment, is clinically skilled, a genuine team player, and is passionate about pets, people and our industry.

You will play a crucial role in delivering the highest standard of care to our patients. Your expertise, compassion, and attention to detail will be instrumental in supporting our veterinarians, providing education and comfort to pet owners, providing support to junior team members and ensuring the smooth functioning of our hospitals on a daily basis.

Role Responsibility:

  • Day-to-day nursing duties
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures.
  • Monitor patients undergoing medical/surgical treatment and identifying when a change in care is required.
  • Maintain surgical and treatment areas in line with infection control policies.
  • Provide compassionate nursing care to hospitalised animals.
  • Educate pet owners about preventatives, post-treatment care and medications.
  • Contribute to a clean and organised environment within the clinic.
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Continually uphold the core values of Greater Springfield Veterinary and encourage other staff to do the same

Requirements:

  • Certificate IV or equivalent.
  • Flexibility to work 30 to 38 hours per week with a variety of shifts between 7 am and 9 pm, and 2 weekends out of 4.
  • Sound surgical, medical, and practical nursing skills.
  • Compassion for animals and a genuine desire to provide excellent client service.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to have financial discussions with clients.
  • A focus on continued growth and further education in both a clinical and non-clinical capacity.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and a high level of emotional maturity.
  • A team mentality and positive attitude.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and software, experience with Ascend, Smartflow, VetCheck and IDEXX Machines is beneficial.
