VACCINATION

Preventative care is a crucial part of maintaining your pet’s health and wellbeing.

Vaccinations are integral to ensure your pet has ongoing protection from a range of diseases.

Regular visits to the vet play a huge part in the ‘prevention is better than cure’ approach.

Apart from detecting any subtle changes in your pet’s physical health, routine check-ups give your veterinarian an opportunity to check your pet’s weight, ears, eyes, joints and teeth, bring parasite control up to date, and address any additional issues that may be worrying you.

When you book an appointment for your pet’s vaccination, you can be assured that your veterinarian will review your pets medical file, and decide (collaboratively with you) exactly which vaccine program is appropriate.

Some vaccines are more important than others, and their administration can be based on the unique risks of living either in our region, or elsewhere.

PUPPY VACCINATION SCHEDULE:

6-8 weeks old (first vaccine)

10-12 weeks old (booster vaccine)

14-16 weeks old (final vaccine)

Every 12 months thereafter as an adult (annual booster vaccine)

KITTEN VACCINATION SCHEDULE

6 to 8 weeks old (first vaccine)

10 to 12 weeks old (second vaccine)

14 to 16 weeks old (third vaccine)

At the 14-16 week vaccination, our team will work with you to determine the most suitable ongoing vaccination program (likely) guided by your cat’s lifestyle and environment

If your cat is exposed to the outdoors or other neighbourhood cats, we strongly recommend incorporating the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) vaccine into your cat’s vaccine program.
